Arrival - Keflavik International Airport (KEF)
September 22, 2007
- The flight: It was short! 5hrs 40min and bang! I'm in ICELAND!!! Some dreams are really easy to make come true ;) During the flight, the stewardess was shocked when I asked for milk (I never do, don't ask me why I did it this time). Maybe it was the Mjolk, but somehow I managed to sleep a few hours during the flight which is always a good thing. The food was salty, some kind of sausage balls or something like that. After landing, I went through immigration very quickly, picked up my small suitcase and went directly to exchange some currency. I only got $300 which I planned to spend "wisely". And I did, but my credit card was hurt badly. Iceland is expensive. Very expensive.
- The car: I had reserved a Yaris with Avis but the guy gave me a free upgrade to an Auris. I asked if he had any instructions since I'm in "exotic" Iceland. He just said: "enjoy your stay". The moment I stepped out of the airport, wind, WIND, WIND!!! Fortunately, it was not raining, so I guess it was "good" weather. The car was manual and I hadn't driven one in a long time. So here starts my adventure: not only am I in a country I don't know much about, but I'm also driving a manual car (you'll see what happens later).
