...And then the bus broke down

The bus that was supposed to take me Chang Mai has broken down so I have to spend another day in Bangkok.

Leaving Bangkok

Today I leave Bangkok on an overnight bus to Chang Mai in Northern Thailand.

My potential plans for Chang Mai are:
  • a 3-day trek to the hilltribes.
  • a cooking course and maybe a Thai massage course.
  • a few days relaxing.
The past few days in Bangkok have been quite tiresome and I'm really looking forward to getting to Chang Mai, away from the hustle and bustle of tuk-tuk drivers and people trying to sell me a suit - "Nice suit, sir. 60 euros! Good price."

Goodbye Bangkok!

Getting 'stewed' in Khao San

With four hours to go until my bus arrived what else was there to do but drink a few beers at the Khao San Centre and watch the world go by?
  • Watching Brits drinking 'towers' of beer and throwing a frisbee in the street.
  • Watching the woman cook Pad Thai.
  • Fending off street sellers - giant lighters, 'wind-up' butterflies. wallets...
  • Laughing at one of the 'tower drinkers' getting carried home at 4 in the afternoon.
The soundtrack: Bassmet Jaxx, The Killers - a mellow dance remix of 'Mr. Brightside', MC Hammer (!), that 'I Like The Way You Move' song...

Two hours later I ambled off to buy some water and crisps for the bus ride.
