The Alamo
After some sleep, a continental breakfast ;) we were off to see what San Antonio had to offer. First stop was downtown and the Alamo. I was impressed with the history of the Alamo and how the Texans revere it so much. It's hard to believe that this little building is the anchor of Texas.

Walked over and took the boat tour of the Riverwalk. This is a very nice tour of the city and enjoyed it very much. After the boat tour, walked around the downtown area and ended up at the location of the 1968 HemisFair.

The center of attraction is the Tower of the Americas. The Tower stands as an 80-ton reminder of HemisFair 1968, Texas' World's Fair, for which it was the theme structure. The Tower is a triumphant feat of architectural and engineering skills and is still one of the tallest freestanding structures in the Western Hemisphere. Rising 750 feet to the top of the antenna, the Tower is 87 feet higher than the Seattle Space Needle, 67 feet higher than the Washington Monument. The observation deck is encircled by an outdoor walkway. Did I mention I don't like heights? Well, I don't but Rachel made me go up in this tower anyways. Nice views of San Antonio, the photos would be better but for some reason my feet couldn't get closer to the edge of the observation deck ;)

Know how you feel, and I'm from S.A. Couldn't pay me enough to go up there, so you're one up on me. Great pics from the tower!
