Overlooking the Chiang Mai river
So after a day of sickness possibly from too much chang beer, possibly from taking our malaria tablets we decided that today was the day to hire a scooter. We chose Mr Beer's scooter hire because of his renowned safety record (he ask if we drive, we say yes, he say good) and then took to the open road wobbling around and getting in the way of EVERYBODY but a scooter is deffinately one of the best transportation vehiclio's ever invented. We got a lost a little bit and then headed for the superhighway and Chiang Mai zoo. As it is still monsoon season here we only managed to cover a tiny bit of the zoo before we got on the zoo bus and weren't allowed off again as the zoo was closing and we'd seen very limited animals, pritty annoying. We then took the scooter on up to a waterfall and had local fish for tea in a bamboo hut hanging out over the river, watching the sunset in the mountains. We then got back on the scooter and it started to rain, HARD, and we were lost and it was dark and so we pulled over as it is literally impossible to see in rain wothout a piece of glass in front of your eyes but unfortunately we misjudged the stopping place and found ourselves soaking wet in an extremely posh restaurant and had to pay an extreme amount for a coke and fruit juice out of sheer embarassment. Anyway we finally made it home and went out for drinks too calm our nerves and met many travelly types in the local bars, one girl had been travelling non stop for TWO years. Rah!!
