nice Brussels :)

Brussels Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

maybe it's a small country, but what a country. Everything is so well organized and people are really friendly. You won't have any problems there. I was supposed to stay here just 1 day, but I stayed here almost 4, hahaha.

nice Brussels :)

Van Gogh

this city is very nice. Everything is well organized. They have a nice subway, but just walking around is so nice!

I took the train in order to go to Brussels, the Thalys. It’s soooooooooooooo good! It’s fast, comfortable, good service, in a word: Perfect!

At the station I made a phone call to the hostel and asked for some directions, took the metro and arrived to my stop. Once thing surprised me - in a really good way of course - was the kindness of all the people. If you were walking holding a map, it doesn’t matter if you were lost or not, they would approach to you and ask if you need any help. :)

An old lady tried to help me and gave me some directions.

I was a bit lost and suddenly found a sign from a hostel.

La Grand Place (always full of people), really nice
I didn’t remember the name the girl in France gave to me, but the place looked nice and was in the area, so I went inside. I asked the guy at the front desk about my reservation and he told me he didn’t have anyone with my name. Ooooops! But there was a bed available. So I took it! I went upstairs and left my stuff. The hostel is very nice. I really liked it. I remember its name: Van Gogh!

I went to the front desk again in order to ask for my key and I realized I was in another hostel! I didn’t arrive to the one, Letizia booked me, hahaha. Anyway I was about leaving the hostel when I hear someone said: Bon jour! It was a guy from California. He spoked in French, hahaha. I was in my way out, so we decided to meet later.

It was still early and I wanted to visit the city and see as much as possible.

with the Menneken Pis - the famous boy!
Sure I wanted to go to the Grand Place, but in my way " I decided just to walk instead of taking a bus, that’s the way of knowing a city " I saw really nice things. I was in the Ilot Sacre neighborhood, walked through Blvd. Anspach. Also visited the Saint Michel et Gudule Cathedral. Here it’s completely different as in Italy. I mean, they don’t care what clothes you are wearing if you want to go into a church ;)

I arrived to the Le Grand Place. All the buildings are so beautiful! It was full of people all ages. Oh! I wanted to find a special guy: The Menneken Pis, hahaha. And I did it. A lot of people were looking for him too. It was summer, so he wasn’t wearing clothes ;)

Time to go back to meet my new friend at the hostel. I kept on enjoying this nice city. It’s so well organized and with friendly people :)

I met him, went out for a couple of beers and to hang out for a while. I was just thinking… tomorrow I won’t be alone, I’ll be able to be in the pictures " yeah!

Brussels is a great city. Just sitting in/near the Grand Place and people-watching is my favourite thing! Oh - and checking out the Tintin shops.

Nice hostel in Brussels
When I was in Brussels I stayed at the Van Gogh Hostel. I have to say I found it very good. Although I arrived to it just by chance, I´m glad I got lost and ended up here.

Not only the atmosphere was great. Also the location is very good. Just walking distance to Grand Place - at least I did so. They have a nice bar and a confortable leaving room. Also there are nice chairs and table outdoors, so you can enjoy the nice weather.

The staff were friendly and it was clean and safe. They serve a good breakfast too and they have lockers where you can leave your stuff without any problem.

Definitely, if I'd go back to Brussels, I'd stay here.
