like a fairy tale - Brugge :)

Brugge Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

maybe it's a small country, but what a country. Everything is so well organized and people are really friendly. You won't have any problems there. I was supposed to stay here just 1 day, but I stayed here almost 4, hahaha.

like a fairy tale - Brugge :)

De Markt Platz in Brugge, a sweet city. It seems the time stopped there.

this city is soo sweet. It seemed to be that the time stopped here.   It looks like a fairy tale old city.

Right now I was in the train in my way to Brugge. I have heard so many nice things about that city that I HAVE TO visit it. Because once I took the wrong train, I decided to make sure and ask a guy if this one was the right train. The man was Irish and noticed I wasn’t local – not difficult to see, hahaha. He asked me where I was from, when I said Peru, he became even friendlier. He had been in Peru a couple of years ago and his nephew just arrived from Cusco. So, we had something in common - ;)

He recommended me to enjoy Brugge, but go to Oostende for the night. Oostende? I didn’t have any idea about that city. He told me I could look for them in Oostende, which is next to the Nordsee and it was summer, so there were a lot of people just enjoying the day/night.  I said I would, just if I were able to find accommodation.

My original plan was staying in Brugge for the night and then going to Antwerp.

Het Minnewater (Love's Lake). It's a romantic city
But at the end I didn’t do it so :P

I arrived to Brugge, left my bag in the station and called to a hostel in Oostende. Well, they had space, so I’d go to Oostende for the night ;)

Wow! Brugge was like a dream come true. You could hardly see autos, just in the main roads, but not downtown. I walked through the sweet streets and parks.

Everywhere I went, I saw a lot of people, most of them couples. This is a romantic city.

I arrived to the main square: “De Markt”, visited the Cathedral, climbed the tower in order to get a great view of this lovely city.

the canals in Brugge, you have to take a ride.

I kept on walking and enjoying the view. Sure you have to take a boat through the beautiful canals. So I did. I was able to see all the old houses. They maintain them very well and don’t want anyone to disturb their architecture. You won’t be able to find a “new” house downtown. The entire city was peaceful and quiet. Just the tourists were a bit noisy, but not much, they were respecting Brugge’s atmosphere. There were swans just swimming next to the boats.

Well, it was almost 7pm and I had to go to the station in order to go to Oostende. Just a night to relax and hang out with people who love Peru - :)
