Chilling out in Oostende...

Oostende Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

maybe it's a small country, but what a country. Everything is so well organized and people are really friendly. You won't have any problems there. I was supposed to stay here just 1 day, but I stayed here almost 4, hahaha.

Chilling out in Oostende...

pubs in Oostende, always funny. But you have to be there in summer.

before going to Oostende, I didn't know anything about it. I came here, just because of Patrick's recommendation. He said it might be cooler than spending the night in Brugge. Don't missunderstand me. Brugge is really sweet! but maybe is better for couples.

I arrived to Oostende and saw the sea!!! I’m from Lima and am used to see it the whole time. During this trip I have been in really great places but was missing the sea. Just walking close to it felt so good… It was around 8pm and it didn’t get dark ;)

Ok, I had an appointment with Patrick at 8pm.  It was 8pm and I was just arriving to the hostel. I called Patrick and let him know I will be there in 30min. The hostel and the pub were in the same street, great! The hostel was a nice one, but I couldn’t find another non European guest. All the people there were from Belgium, just in Oostende to enjoy the beach! Anyway I took a shower, got dressed and went to the Irish Pub. You know, I was a lucky girl and met the right people.  Patrick was the owner of the pub ;)

I saw him at the yard; he was in charge of the BBQ.

The atmosphere of the pub was great.

I was waiting for Patrick when a guy approached to me and asked me if I was the Peruvian friend of his uncle. Well, it was pretty easy to notice that. I was the only brunette with tanned skin there, haha.  He was also Irish, but has been living there for a while, so he became my local friend ;)

We had beef, a couple of beers and were hanging out. He was telling me about his trip to South America and Peru. He was amazed with Machu Picchu, but was regretting he didn’t do the Inca Trail.

We ate beef and then had a couple of beers. I had a blast! Just what I needed – just to chill out ;)

And I got a friend in Ireland!

Good hostel in Oostende
I wasn't supposed to go to Oostende, but ended spending here a couple of days since I met nice people who lived in the city.

I can't say too much, because I just spent 1 night here, but I was amazed that I could find a bed in the middle of the afternoon.

This hostel is ideally located at the center of the city, 2 blocks from the seaside and almost in front of an Irish Pub, where I spent most of my time is Oostende, hehe.

I noticed there were many groups of people from different generations. I stayed in a 8-bed room just with 2 other people. So, I had plenty of space. Also the bathrooms are inside each room. The beds weren't the best, but they were ok.

The staff is friendly and helpful. I even forgot here an ID and they kept that for me. They wanted to deliver it to me by mail, but it was easier for me going back and picking it up, since I was close.

The breakfast in included and has a good variety. They have a closure time, but if you want to go out, they will give you a key.

We all know, that you can find an Irish pub almost all over the world.
If you want to have an "Irish" experience, this is the best place in Oostende.

This Irish pub, is just so big & grand. It has been designed to traditional Irish standards. All the decoration makes you remember ancient Ireland. It has a nice terrace, perfecto for summer evenings.
As well as Guinness, they have a good selection of Belgian beer, and great food. They also have live music and sport on TV screens!

Celtic Ireland, the place to be for a traditional meal, a good glass of beer, life music and lots of entertainment.

I'm not able to tell you about the prices, 'cause it was free for me - ;) So I just put Average...
