I was between jobs, which allowed me to take longer vacations than usual. Yes, not so long as I'd have liked. But enjoyed every single minute. It was my 1st trip solo and 1st as backpacker. So exciting!!! I assume, I got the travel bug here. And guess what. I don't want to get rid of it. Love it!!!!!

Taking a ride in Rotterdam...

If you want to visit a real harbor, you have to go to Rotterdam. So we did ;)

We couldn’t avoid the traffic jam :( But it wasn’t too bad, at least I thought so. We arrived around 2:15pm

Our first duty was to find a parking spot. Martjin knew a parking that was located near the harbor. We parked there and went to the harbor to take a drive through the bay. It was a blast and it was even better because the weather was perfect! We took a boat called “Spido”. It was a tour through the bay. The harbor is huge! So many big buildings and tons of containers. The breeze felt so good, specially because it was a hot day! After the ride we went to a nice restaurant and had something to drink. We really needed it.

Now it was time to go downtown.

If you are in the harbor you just have to take a tram and then everything is walking distance. We wanted to get more touristic info, but the tour information office was already closed. So bad, but we still could walk by ourselves. Tried to go into the City Hall, but it was late for that too :(

No problem at all. I had 2 private guides, hahaha. We were walking around the city and I was able to see the City Hall, the World Trade Center and the famous Cube Houses. Everything here is so well organized. ;)

It was almost 7:30pm when we were done with our tour, although it seemed to be it was 4pm. Hahaha, well better hurry up and drive back home. Another friend - who I met while I was doing the Inca Trail - would meet us at home, yay! So good to be staying with friends, meeting other friends and having a house!!!

I just put some photo's of Rotterdam on my blog aswell. My family from Australia was over last year, so I did show them around.
The other name for the Erasmus bridge, is "the Swan".
That's how we call it.
