I was between jobs, which allowed me to take longer vacations than usual. Yes, not so long as I'd have liked. But enjoyed every single minute. It was my 1st trip solo and 1st as backpacker. So exciting!!! I assume, I got the travel bug here. And guess what. I don't want to get rid of it. Love it!!!!!

Paris oh, la, la!

at the Senna River. Just as I imagined...

what a beautiful city! I liked Paris, you have a lot of things to know and see there and the subway drives you everywhere.  I was there during the Soccer World Cup and watched a game of the French Team in a pub in Mont Martre - just cool!

When we arrived to Paris, I waited for my new friend. She was Canadian, but not from the French part, so she didn't speak French either. Besides English she was learning Spanish. In fact she was coming from Spain. Same as me, she was going to Paris without any reservation for a hostel or hotel, mmm. At least I was not alone anymore, yeah! Be sure to book a place before arriving to Paris! We arrived to Paris and 1st thing to do was finding a place to stay...

At the beginning it seemed to me that the people there weren’t as friendly as in Italy, maybe it was because of the language.

Notre Dame... looking for Quasimodo
Unfortunately I  don’t speak French and I remembered a friend in Lima told me to try first with Spanish or German, before English.  My new friend and I were desperate trying to find a hostel for that night. The info office gave us a list with hostels and we tried every single number of the list, but no luck. Just the last one said there were 2 beds free. Yeah!

We went to the hostel. It was located near to the station - not a very nice neighborhood. I found it a bit creepy… But anyway, I needed a place to stay for that night.  Well, should I stay in that creepy hostel feeling sorry for myself? No way! I talked to my new friend and convinced her to visit Notre Dame and walked around this beautiful city. So, we did. We were in Notre Dame and suddenly I missed her. I tried to find her, but it was impossible. What to do? What to do? Idea! I decided to call again a hostel a girl in Florence recommended me.

The Justice Palace
I was aware they had no free beds for that night, but wanted to ask about the next ones. Yep! They had availability for the next days; I just had to arrive early tomorrow. Good news!

I decided to walk around the city, saw different buildings and arrived to the Louvre. I didn’t get inside, because it was late and it’s huge -  so you need to spend a lot of time there. One full day is not enough. So, I was just walking in the courtyard when I met my friend again, hahaha. She was worried about me too, but I told her I found a place for the next days and she was happy for me. She was just staying for that night in Paris. Would catch a flight back home next morning.

I haven’t slept well the night before, so we went back to the hostel.

Parvis' Square
I was going upstairs when I met a Brazilian guy. He asked me where I was from and when I said Peru, he just shouted: South America! It was funny! He asked me to join him and other people later that night. And of course, I agreed.

It was my first night in Paris and I didn’t want to spend it boring in a creepy hostel. My friend had to leave the next morning early, so she didn’t join us. :( I had 2 roommates, but they weren't so scared about the hostel that didn't want to move, haha, Poor girls, needed to see the funny side of the bad luck...

As agreed we met at the lobby. One by one we started to arrive and finally the group was complete: 1 Brazilian guy, 1 American girl, 3 Mexican boys, 1 Canadian girl, 1 Lithuanian boy and me. Wow! Paris was expensive.

Pont Neuf & Senna River
We went to a bar, but just had a beer. There might be a better aka less expensive way to do it, mmm. So we went to a liquor store, bought some wine and went to the Sena River. We just sat there and started to chat and chill out. So relaxing, yeah!

Before leaving the hostel I told the Brazilian guy, that I wouldn't stay until too late, since I had to move to another hostel early next morning. He promised me, that if I had to leave early, he'd walk with me to the hostel, how sweet! We were having a great time, but I was ready to leave, and the guy honored his word, what a gentleman!

My good luck was coming back, yep! Just needed positive attitude ;)

Creepy hostel...
I stayed in this hostel my 1st night in Paris :( Why did I choose a hostel near to the train station, which is never a good sign? Well, because I couldn't find anywhere else to stay.

I knew Paris is expensive, but you can find better places for which I paid here. It's simply not worth. They say they offer free breakfast which was 2 coins for vending machines ??? One for a mini cup of coffee and the other for a cold sandwich...

It's an old building, which doesn't have any elevator and the stairs to climb aren't comfortable if you are carrying a big bag. So, I decided to leave mine in the storage room, but there was a surprise! They claim to have a lot of security. Well, they have security cameras all over the place, but the storage room has no locker!!! And it didn't look safe at all.

The rooms were small and the beds so uncomfortable. Well, I wouldn't complain much if at least they were clean. But despite the closing time for "cleaning" during the day, they didn't do a very good job. The worst was the bathroom. Just 1 each floor, which is crazy!!! Hard to get water in the shower, and when you finally do it, it's cold and stops after 30 seconds. It has a few tables and chairs to hang out outside and a tiny indoor common area and computers for internet access (after you pay a high fee).

Sometimes the staff makes the differences. But this staff was rude and not helpful. It is incredibly strict! If you do anything wrong you're thrown out with no refund. Drink or eat in your room: Wrong! Make noise after 10 p.m.: you're kicked out! Anyway, I had a good time here, since I met other travelers like me who wanted to hang out and we ended drinking wine at the Sena River, haha. So, not everything was bad here. At least I met nice people :)

Ok it's located near the 2 train stations, but I wouldn't even recommend it for 1 night. No way! Unless you like rude staff and being treated like if they were making you a huge favor.
