Iquitos - de la selva su encanto...
I went to Iquitos in order to attend to a business course. Anyway, I could spend a free Sunday just before going back home. My flight was scheduled at 9am, but a friend who lives there offered to show me around Iquitos. He asked me, what are you gonna do in Lima?
Mmm, he was right. I had no plans. So I decided to stay and enjoy a nice day. We didn´t have much time, but tried to do our best. Iquitos is a very warm city, well it´s in the rainforest. We visited Quistococha a park with a beautiful lake and a zoo. I also carried a boa, hehehe. I even tried a local food called: SURI. Well it´s made of warms!! I wasn´t sure about trying it, but my exboss was saying there is no way I would ever eat it. So, I tried, hahaha.
Because it was a really short visit, I want to go back there but having a lot of time to explore the rainforest and the Amazon.

It's very well located, just 1 1/2 blocks away from the Main Square. They have a/c which is important in hot Iquitos.
Bedrooms are comfortable, big enough and clean, same as the bathrooms. They also have a/c, very important!
I was here because of work. A group of colleagues staid and had some meetings here.
The amenities include a pool and a very good restaurant where you can taste the regional food.
Staying here you have access to some of the facilities of the big hotel. Just need to ask.
Sure, you can find cheaper accommodation. And don't forget to let them know about your flight details. They offer a free pick up from the airport.

Some things you might have to know about this aiport:
-You're in the middle of the jungle, so expect heat & humidity. There's no a/c here.
-There are a couple of shops where you can find the typical sweets and drinks to taste and take with you.
-Due to some birds, the planes land and take off just early in the morning or in the afternoon / evening.
-Because of the changing weather, delays are not unusual.
-It's a small aiprot and although is the most important n the region, is not modern, but it makes security and claiming bags easy and fast.
-As all the Peruvian aiports, they charge you for an aiport tax you have to pay before departure.
-The best way to reach it from the city is by taxi or Moto taxi. Ask the hotel is they offer a free shuttle.
