Into the mountains

It's sunny again, in Mui Ne. Even in the rainy season, it's sunny, and you could easily spend a week or two here. But we have to get on, so we are off to Dalat today. Apparently, it's cool there, but I don't believe it...After breakfast, the maid asks us to check out at 11:30, so we have some spring rolls, and get some pringles for the 3 hours bus ride to Dalat.

The bus is half an hour late (of course), but we are kept amused by a street food hawker riding by playing G'n'R at high volume...great taste in music, not sure about the food. The next amusing thing is the bus. From Saigon to Mui Ne, we had a big air-conditioned coach, 45 seater. This time, we have a minibus! My legs are at a 45 degree angle to the rest of my body, whilst Burg only has one arse-cheek on his seat...funny shit! Still, it's only 3 hours...

We go past the beach, and up into the mountains, almost instantly, into, then above the clouds, with some great views off the edge of the road. It's rainy, on and off, and we pass through lots of little villages, but keep on going up higher, til eventually, 4 hours later, we get into Dalat, which is a spectactular town built into the hillside. And it's actually quite chilly. Not cold, but a definite drop in temperature...

We are herded to the An Phu hotel, and we agree to stay there, they have a huge triple room, for $5 p/p p/nt, which we agree to share with the only other Westerner on the bus, Matt, an Ozzie guy. Immediately, we book a tour with the Easy Riders for the next day, which takes in the countryside of Dalat, for $16 p/p, with each of us getting our own private rider. We wander around town and have a few beers, then go to bed pretty early, due to my legs being at a different angle to the rest of my body...
