Introducing the trail horde, those who made it!
After the 22 hour ride from Lima to Cusco, we arrived in Cusco at around 2pm.  We decided to find the nearest place to lay down.   Melissa and I headed to the Plaza in search of our friends who were flying from La Paz, Bolivia.  We waited there and noticed that about every ten minutes people like us, visitors step out of the taxi, bus or walked to the plaza to regather.

Our friends arrived and headed to a hostel northwest from the plaza. The hostel was recommended by our friend Sarah, a German girl who had been to Cusco but had never made the Inca Trail.  We rested for a few hours and went to grab a bite at around six.

Our friend Lucas, a Brazilian guy, started to feel sick, he got dizzy and nauseous, he laid down and we got him some water.
Eye level view, storm coming!
Aclamatization is vital, so take your time before running, spinning or driking any beer.   We had some pasteles, each cost us one Sol, you get about five Soles per Dollar and about 7 Soles per Euro.  There are about four banks in Cusco and  tellers near the plaza.  I used my Bank of America card to withdrawn cash from my cheking so carrying money orders or cash is not necessary.

Food was delicious and the whole meal cost us about three dollars each.   We decided to head up to the plaza and just catch a few people there.   Lots of groups of young people haging, chilling and just doing nothing there under the moon, some being loudm others quiet, other obnoxious and others just compelled by the atmosphere.  This is was quite a secene, serene and fun.

Things you should know:
The plaza is the heart, meeting place, if you get lost get a taxi and ask for the plaza.
The Incas used this escalating technique to grow food...

There is a 2 to 1 taxi ratio for people, in fact, 90% of cars cirulating are taxis.
Taxis will normally charge you about 2-3 Soles to get you most places in Cusco.
The bus fare from Lima to Cusco was $65.00, airfare will be arount $200
You get about 5 Soles per every Dollar, 7 per Euro.
There are Banks and tellers near the plaza where you can withdrawn money from your debit card.
Cusco is safe, there are three types of law enforcement, national policia, Cusco police and the tourist police everywhere, but always be prudent.
There will be alot of kids people asking for money -not to be a jerk, but watch out for the kids.
