I hope you all had a really nice Christmas Day whatever you got up to. It's lucky I like Christmas a lot cos I had 3 in a row! My 14hr flight to LA was uneventful but unfortunately I got hardly any sleep. At one point the cabin crew dressed up like Santa + his reindeer and gave lollies to the kids, which was nice. I was hoping we would get turkey or something but we just got ordinary food. They also only gave us lunch (at 2pm) then breakfast (at 5am) which I thought was a little odd, but I wasn't at all hungry anyway.
When I got to LA, after I had been fingerprinted + had my mug shot taken (!), I waited outside for Ale to pick me up. She drove me to her house alongside the ocean which was beautiful - it was the same temperature in LA as it had been when I left Melbourne, approx 15-20C.
First we drove past the Trump Golf Course, then headed into downtown LA. I could see the Hollywood sign from far far away so of course I got rather excited about that. We also saw all the theatres where the Academy Awards, film premieres etc are held and saw all the stars in the footpath - Elton John, etc etc etc and some of the old movie stars such as Shirley Temple had their handprints and footprints in blocks of concrete. There were a surprising number of people out and about considering it was Christmas Day, but they must have been mostly tourists I think.
After the tour we returned home as the family had to get ready to go out for Christmas dinner at a house with 75 other people! Crazy. I hung about in the airport for hours and hours before finally boarding my plane to Costa Rica at 1:30am in the morning - I was so dead tired by then!
