Amman by night... from the 10th Floor of the Le Royal Hotel
So I had just about one whole day to check out Amman
whilst awaiting my "wee hours of the morning" flight to Europe the following morning. After getting settled into my hotel (the Le Royal)... i decided to take it easy for a bit and catch up on some sleep. My decision to sleep (vice wander) was further justified by the fact that it was Ramadan and the whole of Amman was fairly quiet at the moment. After some beauty rest, I finally decided to wander around and find some shwarma. As I alluded to earlier... it is currently Ramadan, so the only places in Amman that serve food while the sun is up are the hotel resturants (boring). Once the sun went down, i stumbled upon this cozy looking little shwarma stand serving up some of the tastiest shwarma I ever laid my lips on. Apparently this establishment was also "pet friendly"... as there was a group of stray cats quietly enjoying someone's leftovers at the table next to me... too bad I don't read/speak Arabic, otherwise I'd definately pass along the name of this little gem. Following chow... I picked up some baklavas to snack on during my 15 minute walk back to my hotel. By the time I got back to my hotel, I still had several hours to kill before my flight. I took this opportunity to check out the 10th floor terrace of the Le Royal and a place called Chester's Bar. On the terrace... I thoroughly enjoyed my overpriced Glennfiddich and Montecristo while taking in a panoramic view of Amman by night. Overall... my time in Amman was not too exciting... but it was indeed a very relaxing stopover.
