Royal Elephant Ride

In Jaipur you have the chance to ride one of the most beautiful animals in the world (in my opinion). It's not just as big and beautiful as the african elephant, but the indian elephant is just as charming. Every guidebook says you can ride up to Amber Fort. Well.. this is wrong. You can ride up to the Amber Palace, but to see the fort, you'll have to drive all the way around, and up, up, up the hilly roads.
Be prepared for some waiting. The line is long.. even early in the morning. Remember sunscreen too. Never think that the "sun isn't that hot this time a year.." Water is also essencial.
The Palace is great.. and there's tons of great photo opportunities. I guess that's why I liked it so much. I didn't have any problems spending up to three hours up there. Just taking photos, watching other tourists, and trying to realize that you're in India! And if you're like me, and hate snakes. I mean.. really hate.. keep your eyes open on your walk down from the palace.. there's a couple of snake charmers on the way down.
Jaipur is known as "the pink city". It's really not as pink as you think it'll be. It's more red-ish.. and to be honest, not that impressive either. Although, if you're looking to buy silk or jewlery, Jaipur is a good choice. Or if you want to see a bollywood movie, Raj Mandir Cinema is where you should go.. :)
