Along the Sea to Sky Highway
Today we traveled from Whistler to Vancouver via the Sea to Sky Highway.  Now that we are familiar with that route, we were prepared to look for construction spots and turnouts to stop whenever possible for a photo!  It is a beautiful thing to see the Howe Sound from Squamish down toward Vancouver as it changes from an aqua green color to the deep, deep blue as it clears the sediment from the water.  Travelling into Vancouver was a challenge; there are not so many major highways around Vancouver, we had to travel through downtown Vancouver, through a ton of stoplights before reaching our hotel, the Vancouver Delta.  After checking in, we looked out the window of our 10th floor room toward the harbor, the city of Richmond, BC, and Mount Baker!  Although it is 200 kilometers (123 miles) away in Washington state, that mountain is clearly visible from our room!
Dinner was at the hotel restuarant on the adjacent dock, sitting on the outside patio, we watched a seal swim around the water in the inlet!  Afterward, we grabbed the camera and drove west, past the Vancouver airport to a trail/park area at the end of the point and photographed seals as they swam & fished.  The sun was setting and we grabbed a seat to watch the setting sun!  So nice!
