My stay in Queenstown
The day began quite early - finished breakfast and left around 9am to the gondola up Bob`s Peak to catch a view of the city, as well as do the Luging. I liked this more than the C`ch gondola. Atop, I met a well travelled Scottish couple and got into a good discussion with them. I went luging, took lots of pics and generally took in the luvly atmo.
By the time I got down, it was around 11am. Had brunch at some express cafe, and the minivan arrived to take me horse riding in Glenorchy. The drive to Glenorchy itself was gorgeous - it`s around 10km or so from Q`twn. You drive along Lake Wakatipu. And the lake, clouds and mountains are a perfect combo. No wonder LOTR was shot extensively in this area.
Anyways, reached the area, went horse riding. I sat atop Harry who *ed in LOTR. How cool is that, my closest brush to Hollywood celebrities! The ride was for about 2 hrs or so. The area we went for a walk was amazing - mountains, plain valleys, little streams rocks, lots of lupens (colourful pests that grow in NZ wilderness) and of course the forests. I sprained my left shoulder but no biggie! Finished the horse ride, had Hot chocolate (I luv how they serve H.choc with those 2 pink marshmellows) and drove back to Q`town. Once back, went for another nice walk around town. Went atop the gondola and caught sunset. Luvly feeling. Finally got back, had dinner and hung out at the pub downstairs (Altitude) with the rest of the group.
Again, felt very pleased overall. Moderately hectic day in Q`town.
The front desk are very helpful. Very! And there are brochures, they do trip booking, everything for you.
You can buy dinner here = there's veg option as well. Very good. Although it's served very early! There's a bar as well - Altitude and there's always something going on here - 80s night, karaoke night, etc.
The downside: I thought the hostel was very noisy, it's too big and things like laundry, etc are very hard to find.
But overall, great experience!
