Last stop, Fairbanks
This was our last stop. Here you can see the Northern Lights, but no such luck for me. While we were here there was a common forest fire which clouded up the sky so much we couldn't see a thing. It was actually so bad everyone left with a sore throat.
While we were in Fairbanks we went white water rafting! I have no pictures from this but it was so exciting. We got soaked and the water was freezing but your adrenaline is going so you really don't feel it.
We also went panning for gold at El Dorado Gold Mine. It was fun but not so authentically panning since yo are panning in a trough that was filled previously with water and gold flaks, but we did get a great history lesson and a little gild necklace with the flakes I panned. It was a cute place, especially for kids.
We also went to see the Alaskan oil pipeline. which is such an Alaskan Experience. The statics for the pipeline are interesting. Did you know the oil in the pipeline takes 4 and a half days to travel the 800 miles! ad that it costs 8 billion to build the pipeline and every year it costs 210 million dollars to run it!
