entrance to the maya medicine development center, and beau

Not much today.  A bit hungover.  We met a very weird California hippie at the hostel and he insisted we join his band of drinkers in the kitchen, which included a guy from Holland he called 'the man' and a French photographer, as well as two girls from England and Australia.  The cali guy told Beau and I that we were known as the scooby-doo people, because Beau looked like Shaggy and I looked like Velma, but I think he made that up.

We went to the Maya Medicine Development Center and watched a video on traditional maya birth with midwives.  Learned a bit about the different healers and their role in maya life.  Also, what kind of animals are used for each ailment.  Fang of the spider is good for swollen testicles, apparently.

Lunch was at Paris, Mexico.  It was one of those places that caters to a specific group of tourists. Bet you can't guess which one.  Not much to say about Paris, Mexico, other than that the woman behind the bar stared at us rather intently, when she wasn't singing and dancing to the music.  We were the only patrons.

At night we are going to the square to take more night photos.  Then tomorrow it's on to Palenque

nope. it was made locally, a woman giving birth in her house. she kneels sort of and holds on to her husband who is sitting in a chair in front of her. this woman was kind of calm, a few tears.
