Stone Arch Bridge

I currently live and work in Minnesota and often travel throughout the state taking pictures where ever I go. Hope you enjoy this beautiful state.
Unique bridge over the Mississippi River
The historic Stone Arch Bridge is built with granite and limetone blocks and spans the Mississippi River just downstream of St. Anthony Falls. The bridge was built for and used by the railroad and rail traffic ended there in 1965. Now it is used for pedestrians and bikers. The bridge is 2300 ft long and has 23 arches.

The bridge connects parts of the Heritage Trail that runs about 2 miles around the river and contains information signs on the history of the area. Historic mills surround the bridge, including a Pillsbury factory. The ruins of some mills can be seen on the west bank of the river.

Parking is available along the street at metered spots.
