climbing the volcano
So today Melissa, Stu, Nell and I signed up for a boat tour and then a tour of the volcano. It was kind of like an all included tour type thing. We had to get up really early and everyone was extremely hung over except for me because I went to bed early lol. We went down to the port where we were catching the boat that would take us to the volcano. It was so hot! Like ridiculously hot and it was only 9:00am in the morning. We were just sitting on the boat sweating before we had even left the port. It was so gross. The boat that we went on was really sweet. It was all old school and looked like a pirate ship! So after sitting in the port forever we finally made our way to the volcano. I think it took about half hour or so and it was a really nice getting to see all the island and what not.
We got to the volcano and it turns out we had to pay to actually go on the volcano which sucked because we thought it was included in the tour price. Ah well. And then we started the hike up the tour. I have never ever been so hot in my whole entire life. Nell didn’t even make it up to the top because she was just too hot and couldn’t climb ant more. It was so disgusting. I didn’t even enjoy the volcano that much just because I was so hot. We later found out that it was 45 degrees that day! And we were on a volcano in the middle of the ocean that had black rocks. No wonder why we were so hot! So after we were finished with the volcano we got back on the boat and they took us to these “warm” spring that were on the side of the volcano. They anchored the boat away from the land and the best part was we got to jump off the boat into the nice water.
so yummy!!! i could definatley go for some of that right now
It was the best thing ever because everyone was so hot and it felt so nice! Swam into the warm spring which were alright, because of some sort of mineral in the water it was all orange and kind of stained your skin which was a bit gross. I preferred just to swim around the boat, it was so nice. After a while we got back onto the boat and they dropped us off to a little island called Thirassia which is right by Santorini. It was such a cute little island as well. All along the water there were a whole bunch of restaurants and what not. Then you could climb to the top of the island but we were already so tired from climbing the volcano so we scratched that idea. We were all pretty hungry so we just decided to have lunch at one of the little restaurants. We went to Tabepna Bpaxaki Vrahaki (I only know the name from a picture lol).

It was really nice though, the tables went out over the water and we were sitting on the very edge so if we leaned back we would literately fall into the water. It was so pretty. I ordered calamari that came on a skewer stick with peppers and it came with chips. It was soo good! After lunch we still had some time to kill so we lied on the beach and went swimming. It was so nice and relaxing. The boat came back to pick everyone up and then it took us to a different port on the island where you can walk up to Oia to go see the sunset. We didn’t want to walk though so we decided to ride donkeys up the hill. We paid for Nell for her birthday present as it was her birthday today. Oh wow I have never been so scared in my whole life. Never ever ride donkeys up the side of an island. It was so scary.
sunset, so pretty!
The stairs were really steep and they crisscrossed all the way up and the donkeys were crazy and they would just go wherever and do sharp turns. I honestly thought that the donkey was just gonna walk off along the end. I’m pretty sure I was screaming the whole time haha. Although one good thing happened out of the whole donkey experience. I didn’t see it because it was my donkey but my donkey pooed on the head of Stu’s donkey as it was riding right behind haha. So funny! Even though we took donkeys up we still had quite a walk to get to the city and a ton of stairs! We ended up taking so many breaks on the way up lol. But it was such a nice view on the way up. We went to the same spot that we were the night before to watch the sunset. Like yesterday though it wasn’t that great but was still pretty.

Part of the tour deal we got a bus ride from Oia back to Perissa beach where our hostel was. When we got back we got all showered and what not and then we started hanging around on the patio outside our hostel. Everyone from our hostel was sitting out there and we just drank and partied. I met this one Australian guy named Jono who was pretty nice and we decided to do lots and lots of shots. Eventually the hostel staff kicked everyone off the patio and we all went down to the bar. I don’t remember what the bar was called but it was pretty sweet. All we were doing that night was tequila shot after tequila shot. I don’t think I had an actual drink, just shots all night long lol. For some reason Jono and his friend whose name I can’t remember had a whole bunch of clothes pins in their hair.
don't let that smile confuse you, i was freaked out of my mind!
Because it was the thing to do at the time I’m assuming?? I think Jono and I stayed behind at this bar doing more tequila shots and Melissa moved on with Nell and Stu to go to a different bar. But that was the last that I saw of them all night lol. Eventually we went to the beach bar, had some more shots, and who knows what time it was by this point. Jono and I went to the beach and we went swimming and then we stayed up and watched the sunrise which was pretty sweet. It was complete day light by the time we walked back into the town area and we went to some bakery and got some sort of food but don’t know what it was. Eventually made it back to the hostel for who knows what time lol.
look at all the tequila shots :)
