We arrived to Athens about 8:30 or so in the morning I think it was. Somewhere around that time? I woke up just as we were coming into the port and everyone was gathering their stuff together. Right away we took the metro to the train station and caught the train to Parga I think it was to then catch another ferry. The train was fairly long, like 4 hours or so. It wasn’t too bad though, we killed the time by taking funny photos of each other and trying to see how many cookies we could eat in one bite lol.
on the boat to bari
When we got to the port we were in search of somewhere to have lunch and somewhere where we could check the internet. We found this little restaurant which was pretty nice. We had slovaki which was really good. It was a family restaurant and the boy that served us looked about 10 years old so we tipped him haha. After that we found this internet place which was really cheap which also happened to be this coffee and food place. We were kind of bummed and wished we had found this place first but oh well. After we checked our hotmail and facebook etc we headed to catch the ferry. We stopped first and bought a bottle of water and a bag of chips each. Then we got the ferry place and we went to check in or get our tickets and apparently we were late? I don’t really know what the deal was but the lady was made and was yelling at us to run and we had to run to catch our boat.
melissa, me, billy, cameron, and simon after completing 21!!
We made it though yay. As we were getting onto the ferry we passed 4 other backpackers and as we were doing so I totally tripped over my own feet which was really embarrassing as they were all laughing at me haha. We found the room where we could sleep which was actually like a big TV room with chairs that did not look as comfy as the chairs that we had from the night before that’s for sure. We put our bags in this giant cupboard that we found (we were the only people in this room) except that Melissa put her bag of chips on top of the cupboard and not in the cupboard. She never saw those chips again. It was really funny coming back later to find that someone stole her chips. She was like, “who steals chips?!?” HAHA oh well at least it wasn’t our bags! After that we went out to the deck and those 4 backpackers that we saw earlier were sitting out there so we started to chat with them.
Turns out they were Canadian as well. They were from London, Ontario and their names were Billy, Simon, Cameron, and Katie. So we got chatting to them and hanging out and they were really funny and really nice. So it turns out that we were the ONLY people on this boat. Like honestly, there was nobody else on this ferry. It was soo dead! And it was a nice ferry as well. Like a proper one. It had a restaurant and cafes, gift shop, casino, etc. Felt more like a cheap cruise to tell the truth lol. After a while the 6 of us went to the cafe to have some dinner and we bought some drinks. We later went back and sat out on the deck and started to play drinking games. Oh drink games, how I love them. They taught us a new one which we had never played before called 21.
what you do when you're bored eh?
You go around in a circle and try to count to 21, meanwhile you can skip people and reverse the order etc. If you successfully count to 21 you replace one of the numbers with a word, phrase, action, face, dance, anything you want really. So eventually you aren’t counting you are just saying random words and doing weird dances all the meanwhile skipping people and reversing etc. And if you mess up you have to drink and then you have to start all over again. I have it written down what ours turned out to be but it is in my journal back home which I don’t have access to at the moment. It was really funny though. We had Greek sayings, a facial expression, a little dance, and everything all jumbled all together (hence the title of this entry, funnier if you were there). We successfully completed the game which apparently they have never done before but I think it was mostly because we didn’t have that much booze so we were trying to conserve it and we weren’t getting as drunk as we properly should have been. After we finished Melissa and I went back inside to the little TV room to go to bed. Worst sleep ever. It was so uncomfortable and actually pretty freezing cold. I eventually slept on the floor which wasn’t that better haha.
