Last day in Edinburgh...hmm maybe we should see some of what Edinburgh has to offer!
So today was our last day in Edinburgh and since we kind of wasted our 2 previous days by trying to sort out flights, trains, and accomodation we thought that today we should actually see some of the wonders of Edinburgh. We started with the Royal Mile (ofcourse!) We walked along their until we came to Mary King's Close (the city underground) Mary Kings close is an old side street that branched off of the royal mile in the 1600's but in the 1800's the government cut off the top of most of the houses and built new buildings which caused Mary Kings close to be preserved underground. The tour was really awesome and we learned about a whole bunch of cool things. Unfortunately we weren't able to take pictures underground though:( There was this one room in the house where a girl had died from the plague.
She still haunts there today and people from all over the world bring her toys. Ofcourse I was freaked out and was scared that the little girl ghost would come but luckily she did not. After that we walked to Edinburgh castle but we didn't go in cause we were feeling cheap lol. We just got pics infront of it and of some of the guards. When we were walking down from the castle there was a guy dressed as William Wallace and we took some pictures with him. He was pretty funny...he went up to a car that was playing techno and knocked on the window and told them to play some Metallica. And then a monk gave us this book of prayers or something which we left on the bookshelf in the chill out room at our hostel. Then we kind of wandered into the city and we got some pizza and went to a museum because it was free. That night we had dinner at our hostel and we were just hanging out in the bar and it was quiz night with "Sexy Tony B" We heard these 2 people say they were from Canada so we were like, "hey you're canadian, let be on the same team!" and then 2 other people were like "were from canada too, lets all play!" So we formed team Canada and played. The quiz was pretty fun...you had to guess places and movies and songs from hearing clips and watching things. We thought we did good but we got 58/80 but oh well we still came in 3rd place. After that we just had a couple drinks and then called it a night. Our roomies from Montreal left and we had no new ones so it was just me and Melissa in a 6 bed dorm. It was pretty sweet cause we totally stole all the extra pillows!Edinburgh City Review:
