Inside the big cathedral
So today was our day of site seeing in Vienna. Our hostel was somewhat far away from all the main sites so we had to take the underground to the main area. As were getting on the train, guess who so happens to be on the same train? Oh you guessed it, our trip twins!! How crazy is that eh? Since Jesse had already lived in Vienna for a year he told us to go to the big cathedral in the centre of town so we did. It was nice, we took some pictures etc etc. After that we were just kind of walking around, I don't remember exactly where we were planning on heading but we were just walking along. As were walking we came across another church and we went inside it and someone was playing the organs and they were really good! I knew I would forget the name of this church that we were in so I took a picture of it so I would remember (how smart am I eh?) and it's called Augustiner-kirche which i think is in austrian so its Augustiner Church I believe.

After that we came up to the palace and we bought tickets to the Silver collection, Sissy museum, and the Imperial Apartments which we were really excited for. To get to the Imperial Apartments (which is what we really wanted to see) you first go through the Silver collection and then through the Sissy Museum. We were looking forward to the sissy museum but not so much the silver collection but hey we paid for these tickets so were gonna get our moneys worth. OMG I have never seen sooo many forks or napkins in my whole life!!! It was just room after room, row after row, of forks and plates, goblets, bowls, napkins blah blah. You get those little phone thingys where you can press a number and then listen to what it has to say and we got pretty bored of hearing about the different design on the edges of plates around number 11.
because we couldn't take pictures inside
We were in there for quite a while before we just sat down on a bench. We just started pushing random numbers on the phone to see what they would say. I think it was like number 87 we pushed randomly and it was like, "The proper way to fold a napkin..." OMG! After that we just walked right on through with out stopping to listen to anything lol. Like don't get me wrong they were nice and all but enough is enough! The one thing I did find pretty interesting though was in the olden days apparently the king and queen would wash the feet of the people one day a year. It was interesting to listen about that. After that it was the Sissy museum which was all about Queen Sissy which was pretty interesting. After that we got to walk through the Imperial Apartments which I thought was totally sweet! The rooms looked exactly like they did years ago.
Volksgarten!
I stopped to listen at every one of the numbers but I don't think Melissa did as she was waiting for me for quite a bit after lol. After that we went to one of the prettiest parks ever!! We went to Volkgarten which was sooo pretty!! It was such a warm sunny day with blue skys and there were lots of people just lying on the grass in the shade, it was so nice! We hung around for a while just lying on the grass and then we went to a post office and then we caught the underground back to our hostel. We met our two roomies from the night before who we didn't get to meet because they were sleeping when we got in. There names were Andrew and Darragh and they are from New york. They were pretty nice but dumb in the terms of travelling lol. They thought they could travel around europe for 6 weeks on $1000!! So yeah when we met them they were pretty broke lol.
Happy Hour 1 euro beers lol
We hung around on the outside terrace for a while drinking 1 euro beers (happy hour!). After that we went inside to do some laundy and visit with Andrew and Darragh when they were cooking their dinner. When we were done with the laundy we went inside to the bar. Oh and while we were at the bar Aaron met us there (from Prague) and played some pool and chatted. We met two guys from Wales named Gary and Brad. They were pretty nice and the whole lot of us just sat around drinking and chatting. But since it's a small world after all, it turns out that Gary and Brad know Michelle and Ally whom we know from highschool whom we randomly ran into in Munich. Gary and I were talking about life etc and we got on the topic of school and we were talking about Highschool.
Me and melissa with our roomies! Andrew and Darragh
I mentioned that the highschool Melissa and I went to is a different kind of school that runs differently from regular highschools. He was like, "We met someone on our trip who went to a school like that.." and I was like, "Ally?? Michelle" and yes that was them! I couldn't believe it! The 4 of them had met a couple weeks earlier in Paris. Small world eh? Anyways then we got to the drinking games and things started to get drunk lol. The Wombats bar closed at 2am so we left, to go where, I don't know lol. We kind of just drunkenly walked the streets of Vienna until we came to a kebab stand!! Nothing is better then a kebab in the middle of the night when your loaded lol. Melissa and I bought some and they were delicious. The guy who was working at the Kebab stand really liked Melissa and asked if she had a boyfriend.
Sitting in the street
When she said no he said, "Ok you be my girlfriend" lol. After we were finished our kebabs I had to go to the bathroom so we decided to go to the other Wombats hostel to use the washroom but as I'm crossing the street I totally bailed and fell right on my face!! It hurt alot but it was way to funny so I couldn't really focus on the pain. Everyone was laughing and even the people at the kebab place were laughing. Haha good times. Anyways after that we didn't really have anything to do/anywhere to go so we went back to the hostel and went to bed. Does anyone know what the "Einbahn" is in Vienna? We saw signs pointing to nothing with that on it everywhere we went and we were sooo confused! And we never did figure it out...

In Vienna there is two Wombats hostels. The first is "the Lounge" which is fairly close to the train station and the second one is "the base" which is about 5 minutes further. We were staying at the base which I think is the better one anyways hehe. And I'm not being biased as we did go to the other one to visit people. The hostel was soo clean and all the staff were really friendly. They have pretty much everything you could want at a hostel. There is a bar where there is awesome drink specials and happy hour as well you can order food. You also get a free drink when you check in as a welcome! There is also pool tables and games you can rent. As well there is an outide terrace which is a really nice place to relax when it's hot out. There is breakfast in the morning, internet, luggage storage, laundry, and a kitchen. We were staying in a 6 bed dorm. We had a ensuite bathroom with a really good shower and there were lockers for everyone. The hostel isn't very far from the train station but it is fairly far from all the sites and the centre of the city but its only a short ride on the metro. I totally recommned anyone going to Vienna to stay in one of the Wombats hostels.
