This was what we saw when we got off the train in Riomaggiore...beautiful!
We spent this whole day travelling pretty much. We went from Venice into Milan and then from Milan to Monterosso which is one of the 5 cities of Cinque Terre. But we were staying in Riomaggiore which is one of the end cities and Monterosso is the other end city. So we got the train to Riomaggiore and we went to find our hostel. I don’t really know what our hostel was, even if it was a hostel. Where we went to “check-in” was a little place in the city but there was clearly no beds or anything there.
And then the guy took us to our actual room which was a million miles away. If anyone has ever been to Cinque Terre they will know that it is very very hilly. One of the hardest walks of all time getting up that hill with our huge bags. And so many stairs as well. By time we actually got to the hostel which was actually a house and we were just in one of the rooms we were so hot and tired. The place that we were staying was pretty amazing though. We were in this massive room with a big queen bed which Melissa and I shared and then a random bunk bed in the corner where two other people were sleeping. But we had a balcony and the view was just amazing. It looked right over the ocean and it was so beautiful. And then there were two other rooms in this house type thing we were staying at and two bathrooms which were in good shape. We started chatting with the two other people in our room which was a girl and a guy whole names I can’t remember and they were kind of weird. Anyways we all decided to go and get dinner together so we walked over to the 2nd city which is Manarola and went to this pasta place. It is so true that Italy has the best pasta. I had lobster linguine and it was the best thing I had ever had. After dinner we went back to the hostel and then we just went to bed as we had to be up early in the morning to do the 12km hike between the 5 cities.
view from our room! jealous?
