Liwa Oasis Hotel
The sole option for visiting the renowned Empty Quarter with any semblance of luxury, the Liwa Oasis Hotel is your choice if you want to dig deep into the United Arab Emirates (i.e., nobody who hits the Burj Al Arab in Dubai will NOT be here!). The accommodations are basic hotel offerings, but this is relative opulence for the environment.
I can validate that this place has flush toilets and hot water, which you won’t find anywhere else along the roughly 225 kilometer drive through the desert from Abu Dhabi. The hotel is delightfully perched atop a massive dune overlooking vast expanses of nothing but sand, making you grateful for the basic offerings they provide. Refer to my blog to learn about the bar and music service that is offered, though you will certainly not find that an incentive to book a reservation. But forget about the modern amenities, staying at Liwa affords the splendid opportunity to enjoy a stark environment rarely found in other places. We truly enjoyed our time at this desert oasis!
