On our trip, we really wanted to see different aspects of Spain, from larger cities to smaller ones. Trying to find an easy and inexpensive way to get from Sevilla to Lisbon, we found that a bus could get us there very cheaply, and we could stop and a smaller city along the way, called Mérida. After doing some research on Mérida, we found that it was very rich in Roman history, and many great ruins are scattered throughout the city. They also had a Parador in the city, so we stayed there, wanting to try one during the trip. Mérida was a very neat city, and I'm very glad we were able to stop there. It's kind of hard to make in there during a regular trip, but since it was on the way, we were very lucky to have visited there. The Roman ruins are a really great thing to see and are so well preserved. Also, you can walk around the entire city and see them scattered everywhere. One very interesting one was under this church. The entire basement of the church had been excavated recently, and now it is all ruins from Roman times. Very interesting and exciting to see. The next day we left for Lisbon, and the bus ride again was not very bad at all. If you get a chance to see Mérida, I would check it out, because it is a very neat city.
