My time in Seychelles from September 2006 until June 2007...

Arrival

The reef hotel

I went to the Seychelles to start my internship as  a Guest Relation Trainee in the 5* hotel Sainte Anne Resort and Spa.

My dad brought me to the airport in Munich, Germany, where they had a Condor flight once a week going to Mahé Island, Seychelles.

The flight was supposed to go at 20.15 and we were lucky that we started very early to go there with the train, as they had some delays. Like nearly all the time, when you need to be in time. ;) At the airport where a lot of couples, that went to the Seychelles either to get married or to have their honeymoon over there. I was on my own. Nobody there who would have taken care of me. Even in the airplane I was sitting alone on the 9 hour flight. But anyway...

The airplane started in time, there were some minutes where I asked myself what I am doing in this plane and why I decided to leave Germany for the next 9 months, but the thoughts were passing by and I started to look forward for the tropical islands.

After a 9,5 houres flight our airplane broke through the clouds and there they were! Tiny islands in the middle of a blue ocean... all with green palm trees and hills... it was amazing. So beautiful to see and you could start to guess on which island you would be going. ;) It was wonderful...

I was picked up by one of the hotel staff and brought to the Reef Hotel, which is a former 3* hotel, but nowadays is only used for the employees of Sainte Anne Resort and Spa. The Reef is situated on the main island Mahé, in the district Anse aux Pins.

The employees are very nice. The only problem was that they were all speaking Creole, which is a mix between English and French and very hard to understand, even if you speak both languages. Lucky me, they all also spoke English and French, so there were no communication problems.

;)

First I went to discover my room. They gave me a huge room, 40sqm... only for me. It was great. Afterwards I had to go to the beach. It only took me 20 steps to reach it... the water was crystal clear and all year long around 30°C. Amazing. Also good for snorkeling.

As I arrived on a Saturday and all the management was off on the weekend, I started working only as from Monday and spent my time discovering the near surroundings...
