Aviemore. We are still in the Highlands. It turns out my 4th great grandfather was from here. I still hold his Scottish surname. My father visited this place nearly 40 years ago and said he found our old family plot. There was nothing left at the time but the foundations and described the town as being small. When we arrived I found a lot has changed. Now, the town is a destination for holiday travelers as it is located in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
Outdoor activities are the main thing to do here. There were at least four outdoor sporting good stores.

The three of us on this trip drove in on a Saturday evening. We ended up staying in the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort. This is one of those resorts that can accommodate to every need. We ate at a Cairngorm Hotel restaurant close by. Will and I had our chance to eat our haggis, and drink some Scotch. I do not see what all the commotion is about, haggis is delicious. Afterwards, I hung around the pub and listened to some live music. It was a little too loud for conversations and most of the people were older men. But a merry night was had.
I woke up early on Sunday and decided to drive around and see the town before the stores opened. It is quite apparent that this once little town is now growing fast. Some of the roads would have the older quaint little houses and others would have new development style layout. The townoverall was beautiful. I was unable to find out where or even if my old family foundations still existed.
