For years I always wanted to come to Costa Rica - and it was worth every day! The nature is of great beauty and compared to other middle and south american regions all is impressively clean and well-organized. The people are self-concious, friendly and open-minded to foreigners who want to get to know their country without playing the "tourist".  Not everything is european standard but if you request for that you should travel to Austria...the climate is humid and mostly warm, with occasional rain showers in the afternoon. No dress-up required, but local people apreciate a  proper appearance.

San Jose is quite a well-organized city. Moderate traffic, not so many beggars, the streets relatively well kept. Not many cultural and historic highlights exept for the Treasure Museum and the Opera House. Best for nice gifts is the Arts+Crafts market (ask for mercado de artesania), cloths and shoes are not the best quality, books often 2nd hand.
