Caravan crossing the sands

Another lovely day, breakfast, sun, lunch, spa, sun, dinner...no need to complain!

The Al Maha is one of the most impressive resorts I've stayed at. Other than the spa and wonderful food and setting, all the activities, apart from spa treatments, are included in the tariff. So internet use, dune safari, camel trek, etc, are all complimentary. We still managed to spend quite a lot but we did buy a painting of an Oryx, and had the spa treatments as well, so maybe it wasn't that bad. Really all you have to pay for is wine, soft drinks and taxis into the city, which is what we did...booked it through the hotel, and called the driver 30 mins before we were finished (at 11pm!) and he came back for us and back to Al Maha.

Today we got up, went to breakfast, which was FABULOUS, went to sun bathe, had a sleep, went for lunch, ate a lovely lunch, and went for a spa treatment.

Lazing in the suite
We were taken down to the Al Maha Timeless Spa, changed into our paper pants (actually, they were more like black fabric thongs, so un-attractive, Mark was squirming!), bathrobes and slippers and went through to the relaxation lounge. We were served our choice of freshly squuezed juices and still water and were nearly asleep when our therapists came through to take us to the treatment room. Mark was having a De-Stress Back Massage and Reflexology treatment, which was a first for him! He didn't believe in Reflexology but came away a believer! I had a 90 minute Swedish Massage which was absolutely fantastic! It was amusing during the back massage when we realised Mark was asleep and snoring gently, but during the reflexology he was very much awake, yelping every now and then, which prompted giggles from me and the therapists!

We headed back to the suite and had a sleep, a welcome side effect of the masage! And once again, a fantastic dinner  rounded off a wonderful day.

We were supposed to have dinner on our deck but it was too darn hot!
..but tonight we were having dinner on our deck. Our butler would bring us each course, as well as set the table on the deck by the pool and wait on us through the night. However...we went outside to see how the temperature was before the food arrived and...it was far too hot to be out and eating. So instead we opted to eat in the air conditioned comfort of the suite, enjoying the view, but through the patio doors!

I was really looking forward to the next day...shopping in the city! We leave at 9.30am! :D
