Whale Watching at Magdalena Bay
March 16, 2003
I arrived in Loreto a day ahead of when my sea kayak trip was to start so I decided to go see some sights, I decided to go for a day trip to go see a grey whale winterig spot on the west coast of the Baja peninsula. It was an interesting drive in the tour van through the hilly desert country on the way there to the town of Lopez Mateos where we had a lunch and then went out in a boat to go see whales. We rode around and eventually caught up with a mother and its baby who surfaced a couple of times and then was gone. It was pretty cool to see that but that was about all we saw after that. It is the end of the wahale watching season so I guess we did pretty good seeing what we saw. It was nice riding around in the boat out in the bay though and a great getaway from Loreto.
