The Kurdish people in Iraq are some of the most friendly and hospitable people you will ever meet. During my visit, I met and accompanied a group of university students to their classess, was taken in by a local family and even learned a few Kurdish dance steps while on a typical picnic.

Palmyra - The Ruins of an Ancient City

Since I was headed north of Damascus, I planned to spend a couple nights in Palmyra to check out the world famous ruins.  This was an incredible site and fortunately because it was low season, the crowds were minimal.
