An unexpected field trip

Wow! I haven't been here for six months and there's already 15 blogs (including this one)! Well, last week in some of the classes we talked about Intellectual Property and Fake goods. And segue into the Silk Market. Jan had never been and wanted to go, it's close to where I live (one metro stop or 4 bus stops) and I'm always up for looking around. So we met at YongAnLi metro station near 1pm and we were off. The bottom floor is shoes and handbags and they wanted my attention!!! But I behaved myself and didn't buy another handbag. Then we went to the top floor and worked our way down. Some of the people assumed that we were married since we were looking around together (it was quite amusing). Turned out I was the bargainer of the two of us, not that I minded.
From the Silk Market we walked up Dongdaqiao and went to The Place where we admired the HUGE TV screen, then went inside to the bookstore, looked at Olympic merch and chocolate (no, I didn't buy any), then went to Starbucks for some tea and a little food and just to sit down for a little while. From there we ended up at the Jenny Lou's by Ritan, then went to Ritan Park. Oh, and now Jan knows where the British Embassy is.
All the pics were taken in Ritan with my phone since I didn't bring my camera. Ritan was really nice, glad to know there's a park nearby for when it warms up. I may not be a country girl, but I am a Vermonter and I need my trees and open spaces. From there we went to Peter's Tex-Mex for dinner and had a good time. From there, it was to Jianguomen metro station and our separate ways home.
Not much to blog, but I wanted to get the pics up ASAP, if only to prove that I did something! :D
