Italian Overture
June 7, 2006
This is just the sort of idyllic coastal paradise I was imagining. My French friend Manu and I rented a double kayak at Monterosso, the 5th town, and rowed to Vernazza, the 4th town. We only encountered one other boat the entire time. It was so amazing to paddle next to the breathtaking coast. We found a small cove and briefly parked the boat on a rock that just poked its head above the water. I had always wanted to find a secluded inlet amongst the cliffs. The water was crystal clear. In one tucked away corner was a colony of atleast 70 sea urchins! This is my favorite memory of Cinque Terre.
