Temple Bar, Night 1
Sooo we JUST got back from Dublin and it was awesome! We did the quick two day version of seeing the city and did lots of sweet stuff.  Oh! and we spoke lots and lots of English :)

we took a flight after class on thursday and arrived at our hotel around 7 local time. then ran into this sweet guy who had been there for a few days and was just beginning a backpacking trip through europe. interesting guy, but he knew the layout of the town and we found a restaurant that looked irish enough and had a nice huge meal! steak and burgers-not your typical spanish food. our waiter was awesome and i'm pretty sure the irish accent is the best in the world. i want one. anyway, then we strolled through the streets and found Temple Bar which is what everyone recommends to see.
Guinness Factory
its a decent size bar with live music and the guys played some american toons for us american kids (we're rather obvious). but they also had sweet irish songs which were much better. and everyone is always drinking a pint.

we started our tour day early around 7 and hit just about every thing in dublin that was within the downtown area. there was the city hall, Dublin castle, Christ's church, and st. Patrick's cathedral which were pretty cool to see. next was the Guinness factory which is awesome. probably five or six stories of semi-interactive tour through the process of making their beer and the history behind it all. at the end you go to the top of the factor to a big room w/ glass windows all around that looks out on the city. and you get your free Guinness! next we headed to a couple museums (modern art and then one of many national musems) and the Old Jameson distillery.
Jameson Whiskey
this is where we had a great guided tour of the process of making Jameson whiskey and a little taste test drink. i liked it, surprisingly. smooth and sweet! okay, so by now we're tired and take a bus to Trinity College to see the Book of Kells, but it was closed early. after we recovered from our depression we found ourselves at the National Gallery and had the best tour of art ever! we saw a monet and picasso and some other famous artist i actually knew-and here's the amazing part-thrity minutes! true story and lots of bang for the buck. then we crusied around looking for an irish sweater for William. that night we went to another cool restaurant and had some of the largest hamburgers any of us had every seen (two 8-oz slabs... mmmm).  we were about dead by that time but went over to temple bar for a drink and then some of us headed back to crash for the night.

this morning we visited Starbucks for the first time in six weeks (i couldn't believe it either) and had an excellent start to the morning. we enjoyed the city for another hour until it was time to head back to the airport and go back to Bilbao.

so... irish people are great. dublin is sweeeeet. the tours we're some of the highlights. we're tired. scott got an excellent hat. will's new sweater is classy. visit dublin!

portugal next week! woohoo!
