An Irishman in Germany

My friend Gareth from Northern Ireland had never been to Germany before and I was wondering what might be good to show him in Frankfurt. When I was thinking about that, all of the sudden so many things popped to my mind so that I didn't even know where to start.

If someone comes to Germany people tend to go to Berlin, Munich, or Hamburg. But Frankfurt? Oh yeah, the airport, I know. That's all most of the people know about my hometown. Of course we can't compete with the big cities of Germany but you might be surprised that Frankfurt has more to offer than the biggest airport in the country.

Our little sight seeing tour (which actually lasted 3 days!) starts in the city center. We needed to get some food in first and I took the guys to a very traditional restaurant right beside the shopping mile "Zeil".

After a delicious meal we walked along the Zeil, towards the old Opera House, the "Fressgass", Cafe Hauptwache, the Dome, Römer, Nikolaikirche, and so on.  Inbetween we stopped at several cafes and bars to get some nutrient beer and applewine into our stomachs.

Have a look at the photos and you'll get more information about the sights we've seen.

Enjoy!
