A view in San Gimgiano- so beautiful here!

I was sad to leave the fabulous Hotel Albani in Rome, but it was on to greener pastures today….

On our way to Rome, we stopped off at the VERY charming San Gimignano.  This is one of the few places we’ve been on the trip when I actually felt relaxed…  It was a little touristy, but still quiet and the scenery was just amazing.  We had a excellent lunch and some great wine with the leaders and faculty of group 1 who we had arranged to meet there- something I think some of our students were especially pleased about J.

It was only about an hour to Florence from there, so the students were happy about that too!  Our hotel here is very nice as well- Hotel Mediterano.  I have had a bathtub two cities in a row!  We got here, dropped our stuff, and headed back to the bus again to go to our walking tour.  We walked around for about two hours then back to the hotel to get ready for our welcome dinner here, which was very nice as well.  I think I am going to enjoy Florence a lot- if the great history and art doesn’t impress me, then the streets full of leather bags and shoes surely will…

San Gimignano is truly a lovely place; The movie, Tea with Mussolini was filmed there; watching the movie is a great way to "revisit."
