I don´t understand a word, but I love it here.

The amazing Merkat St. Joseph- so much amazing food!

Hola from Barcelona!  By the way, hola is the only word I know how to say here, and I don´t even think I´m saying that correctly.  The language they speak here (Catalan) is lovely, but the pronounciation is completely counterintuitive to everything I´ve ever learned, so it´s very hard to pick up.  Lots of "th" sounds where they don´t seem to go...  Anyway, the people here are very nice and try hard to help us understand, so it´s been great.

We got hear yesterday afternoon after spending one night in Aix en Provence, France on our way here from Florence.  Nothing exciting to report from France really- it was quiet and the students were doing homework, so it was nice for me :).

Park Guell- I could have stayed here all day!
That quickly changed when we got to Barcelona though when the students saw the rooftop pool and realized they had 5 hours to kill before dinner... Nothing too crazy happened, that I know of, so all was well.  Explored a little bit yesterday but mostly just got settled.  I bought a phone card for 6 euros which I expected to last a while (the one I got in Italy lasted 225 minutes).  However, I was disappointed when it cut off after only 30 minutes....  I guess they have to pay for all of these beautiful buildings somehow.

We got up today and helped prepare for class, then we hit the ground running.  We went down to Los Ramblos (I most likely have spelled that wrong) and found a fantastic market.  I got 7 nectarines for .85 euros and many cherries for only 1 euro- I love it here!  Then we met the students at the Picasso Museum, which was just as fabulous as the cheap fruit I had just discovered :).

These two are the only people I know who coulf fall asleep in the middle of a meal...
The museum surprised many of us who don´t know much about Picasso´s work.  His early work is much different than anything I have ever seen by him, so it was really interesting to learn that.  It was also interesting to learn that he was quite a womanizer, but I have since been told that most artists are... by an artist nonetheless...

After the museum, Jason and I went to scope out the sites for the walking tours we´ll be going on over the next 3 days.  That is when I have truly discovered how beautiful it is here.  The architecture is absolutely stunning-like nothing I have ever seen.  I´ll post some pictures as soon as I can for those who have never seen it.   We then went on a wild goose chase for the internet cafe I am currently sitting in, which we obviously eventually located thanks to a very helpful woman.

Jason, Vince and I at at great Italian place with cute waiters :).
Unlike the phone, the internet is quite cheap.  I guess I can afford another phone card now....

We are here in Barcelona until Monday, and during that time we have the 3 walking tours with the professors which I hope will help me narrow down the things I want to focus on most.  I also plan on hitting the pool at least once- it is very nice and I imagine it´s quiet when our students aren´t whooping it up there :).

On Saturday my friend Vince is arriving and will be spending one night before he goes to Paris.  I am QUITE excited about seeing a familiar, friendly face here!!!   I am having a blast, but miss knowing where things are and knowing that I can call a friend at any moment.  That will come in due time though- we get to Oxford in 9 days!!!  Then it´s off to London with Brett for much fun and excitement :).

Adios for now!  More from either Barcelona or Madrid.
