Cape Town
Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities I have been to. I did all the usual stuff; Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, and the V&A. I stayed at the Sheraton, which is modern hotel close the waterfront. Really nice but next time I think I would stay closer to the V&A waterfront.
So, I was lazy and didn't climb Table Mountain, instead I take the cable car. Next time maybe I'll climb it, but probably not ;) We did instead climb around Cape Point.
The most thrilling experience was the Great White Shark Cage Diving! Although for anyone who is trying it, bring a anti-motion sickness pill! The water was so rough and alot of people had to go back. Not me! I was determined to get in that cage. The water is so cold but your adrenaline makes it so you don't even notice it.
We used Brain McFarlenes tour in Gansbaai which is about an hour and a half from Cape Town and a really nice drive. We saw a few sharks and then a whale right next to the boat! So cool. I got some underwater pictures but not sure how them came out since I haven't devolope them. When I do , I'll put some up.
So after our adventures I decided to take it easy and go shopping. I stop at Cape Gallery, because their is nothing I love more then original art. It beats any souvenir and no one else can have the same thing. They had great work at really great prices so I picked up two oil on wood blocks paintings by a local African artist, Xolile Mtakatya. I saw one of he's pieces in the National Gallery and loved it.
We ate at the African Cafe, which was nice and the people were great, but it was alittle too touristy for me.
It rained one day so we went to the Aquarium on the waterfront. It was nice for a rainy day and really great for kids. There is a great craft shop next to it called the Blue Shed Craft shop (I think?). There is more great original art work there also.
Next stop, on to the safari!
