Enschede
Inge, a friend from work, had invited me to Enschede for the day. Enschede is way up in the North of the Netherlands, not far from the border, and costs a whole 30€ to get there from Utrecht. It's quite a distance! There's a nice train ride up, though - you get a lovely view of Deventer on your way through the town. And even before then there's a patch of forest that looks like the New Forest that's quite attractive too. I had a really nice journey up, and Inge met me at the station.
Inge was very genorous and I was spoiled rotten - we had traditional cream wafer things and chocolates and Inge gave me her spare Sinterklaas letter, so I probably put on a whole kilo in the first few hours I was there. Then we had lovely hot chocolate in a really nice brasserie in the town square. It was called De Katten and they do really good bread and garlic sauce. After that we went home and got warm, and then we went to Inge's boyfriend's house to get some dinner. Dinner was lovely, and we watched Austin Powers Goldmember afterwards. I wasn't totally sure if I was allowed to laugh at the Dutch jokes, but it was fine! ;)
