Salem, IL to La Salle, IL

Quiet park last night, even cooled down a bit for better sleeping although Dave was restless during the night…bad dreams he said.  Fruit and the last of the cheesecake for breakfast this morning.  Thanks Mel, can you believe we stretched it out all the way to IL?!

Traveling SR 50 and 51 today heading due north.  We hope to be getting away from some of the heat and humidity.  Mainly flat landscape, lots of trees among the farms and fields of corn and soybeans.  We did see two small fields of sunflowers when we left the park this morning.

Stopped at the local Wal-Mart for essentials.  The large memory card for our camera finally wore out.  We tried to buy a new card but no luck; the service girl said they stopped carrying them last week.  Will have to keep looking, will use my smaller card in the mean time.

It seems strange to see pumping rigs in the middle of the corn and soybean fields.  We passed a very large Exxon tank farm today (at least 80 tanks) in the middle of nowhere and wonder if it is supplied by the local pumping rigs or transcontinental pipeline or???

Re’ called when we were in Decatur checking out the local mall for a Bed, Bath & Beyond (no such luck).  It was good to hear all is well at home, be updated with the mail (bills) and that our fishies are fine.  I guess they are not growing very much this year though.  When we get home, we will have to net out the baby gold fish to give more room for the Koi.

Onto Interstate 39/SR 51 at 3:30 today to La Salle and the KOA for the night, then on to WI.

Gas in Normal, IL…..@$3.089….15.11mpg…..60mph roads, only 100 miles with generator.
