Cave City, KY to Cumberland Gap National Park, VA

Had a good nights rest at Cave City even though the trains were serenading us throughout the night  (we love trains …others might not).  :-}

Had breakfast at the local Cracker Barrel.  It was so busy due to being Memorial Day I’m sure, but well worth the wait..very good food.  We did get a late start today however. We headed out to Cumberland Falls, KY and of course picked a slow going curvy road.  The falls are billed as the “Niagara Falls of the South”, talk about being on a roll here (remember the falls at ID).  We also saw the “Frozen Niagara Falls” at Mammoth Cave.  We are beginning to wonder just how many we have missed if any that is?! Saw the real Niagara Falls last year.  We drove on to the Cumberland Gap, but alas, no gap that we could see.  In 1996 they built a wonderful tunnel through the mountains. This in hopes to keep further destruction of the gap from happening.  We were in three states in less than a minute.  KY thru the tunnel, TN over the road upon leaving the tunnel, then VA on the other side.  Found The Cumberland Gap National Park Campground for the night.
