Sorry folks....I have really gotten behind here…no WIFI for days then we arrived in DE and have been visiting.  Today is catch-up day to let our friends and family know we are okay.

Bluefield, WV to New Market, VA

Back to the trip……We stayed in the Holiday Inn at Bluefield, WV last night for a change of pace, meaning I couldn’t find the local campground.  LOL  Excellent dinner and breakfast in their restaurant.

More mountains and valleys today, Blue Ridge Mountain area.  We stopped along the way to check out The Natural Bridge of Virginia just north of Roanoke.  Awesome site and a nice little history lesson too.  When George Washington was in his late teens, he surveyed the surrounding areas for the King of England.  He found the rock bridge, carved his initials on it as a marker.  Then in 1774 Thomas Jefferson purchased the bridge and surrounding 157 acres for 20 shillings…. $2.40 total..!!!   There is a natural creek running under the rock bridge that has fish in it.  Natural trout and planted Koi!! Lots of yellow Koi just swimming around in circles, not to bright those Koi.  Our “boys” at home are much smarter and prettier.  LOL

More mountains and valleys. We missed the big storm at Harrisonburg being just ahead of it as we came through that area.  Stayed at a KOA just outside New Market, VA.  Very nice wooded sites, big rigs in there too.  Nice and quiet, well worth the 3 mile drive off the main road.

Gas @ Harrisonburg……$2.659……14.84 mpg
