Lake Superior
September 1, 2007
What makes it so superior? I live on Lake Michigan and, quite frankly, I think Lake Michigan is the best! At least the water gets warm enough to swim in... :) After visiting the Tahquamenon Falls, we headed 10 miles north up a very winding path right on Lake Superior (and with no guard rails) to the northern coast of the Upper Peninsula. This place is known as Whitefish Point, and has a shipwreck museum (some 6000 ships have gone down in the Great Lakes!), a lighthouse, and a stunning beach. No one was swimming, but there were people out in the water...and it was not warm! We took the opportunity to relax and skip some rocks on the water before heading to Sault Ste. Marie, our destination city for the evening.
