Ancient Greek Temples in the Campania Region
I fell in love with Sicily the first time I visited Palermo, especially the Greek ruins. I'd heard about Paestum but was too excited about Sicily - So I spent most of the first 3 years in Italy constantly exploring down there. I finally got down to Paestum after around the 4th year and I was just as impressed if not more. These temples are very well preserved just as Segeste is in Sicily. The temples are located in a city still surrounded by defense walls and if interested there is also a museum. The three temples are: The oldest and best preserved is the Temple of Hera, built around 530 BC, The Temple of Athena, built around 500 BC, then finally the Temple of Apollo, built around 450 BC. Also located in the area of the ruins is an amphitheater. This is a great place to visit. Paestum can be seen in a day trip from Naples, I saw it in the late afternoon but, a cool way to experience it is to stay overnight, and then go over around 4 p.m. the next day.
hope u enjoy!
