Yosemite National Park

Yosemite national park is a stunning place as I hope the pictures show. We arrived there after a 9 hour drive from Las Vegas and had only moved about 3 inches on the map. We’ve not quite got the hang of how far it is across the US and might have to shorten the drive round so we can actually stop and see some of it.
We stayed in a campsite about 30 miles out of the park, all mod cons and no bears nearby, it even had a (bloody freezing (I didn‘t go in it) pool. We spent the first day exploring the Yosemite valley and going to see where all the waterfalls would have been had there been any water. It was cool being able to stand at the bottom of Yosemite falls and look up at where millions of gallons of water had been flowing only a couple of months ago.
The last morning there was spent going up to Glacier point which is about 1 km shear drop to the valley floor. The view was stunning, we could have stayed there for hours admiring the scenery. We managed to drag ourselves away for a 50 mile drive to the south of the park to see Mariposa Grove, a stand of 500 giant Redwood trees. I’ve always known they were big, but walking around hundreds of them was just amazing.
Next stop San Francisco…
