Been a long delay in blog entries as places have not had internet access or it has been super expensive.
We hopped on a flight to Oakland which was quick and not too bad and the whole plane paid a moments rememberence for heroes lost on this day 6 years ago. Got to the airport and a nice guy saw us fumbling with our train map and was going on it and showed us where to go etc and filled us in on what to do in San Francisco.
Arrived in San Francisco and it seems that it is Hobo Central. The former UN building/park appears that it is now being run by hobo's representing every sort of addiction. We got our way through and to our hostel, dumped our stuff out and went our for a few beers and then crashed out.
Next day we got on the famous San Francisco trolley and went over to Fishermans Warf. Here we went to a nice maritime museum which was nice because it was free. Then we got ourself on the boat for a tour of Alcatraz and spent a few hours looking round which was reasonabley priced and had some good tours and a nice boat ride. I definitely could have swum to shore and we saw two people actually doing it.
Headed to Peir 39 which was just tacky and then headed to Hooters for some cheap beers during happy hour on our way back which was a good laugh.
Next day did some shoppping, bought some cheap clothes and a PSP so the bank account took a bit of a hit. In the afternoon we picked up a car. It was decided that I would do all the driving as will had done DC to denver. We picked up the car and they offered us an upgrade for $12 to a brand new Hyundai Satana or something, but it turned out to be $12 a day and it turned out it was a mistake to give a brand new car to us.
Got my frist taste of driving in a foreign country trying to make my way out of San Francisco in rush hour and going over the 10 lane bay bridge which was interesting.
I forgot to add what happened to us on the second night in San Francisco. We decided to see what the other bars in the area had to offer, so we were walking about when a tramp accosted us, i quickly walked on but will got cornered and tried to sell him a DVD, I did not realise what DVD it was but apparently it was porn, gay porn. We then walked on to the next bar where will decided for the first time that we would deviate from the manly beers we had been drinking to bacardi cokes, do it. After looking round a bit some warning signs went off. There was only one girl in the room, the bar man was fruity and the clincher was the massive rainbow in the window, we had walked in to a san francisco gay bar!
