Road tripping in the UK

Barely had I landed and briefly set my feet upon the home street before I had my good friend Charlotte fly over from Denmark going to the same conference in Scotland as me. So we set out on the journey from the lower part of England to the middle of the highlands in Scotland which should normally be a 10 hour drive if going straight. Buuut... since I was jetlagged (and since Charlotte is not allowed to drive the car on my insurance) there was no way that was going to happen and it fit nicely to make a girly road trip out of it!
So, we set of in my car and first city we decided to stop in was Nottingham. Not knowing much except that this could have something to do with that bloke in panty hose, a funny green hat with a feather in it and pretty good at shooting a bow.
Next day offered Hadrians wall, I was thinking of something like the great wall of China maybe just a bit smaller.... I don't know, what do you think (look at the photos)? After arriving at our destination it was all conference but also a look around. We went to the Cairngorms National Park, the mountain there and some walks around the area where we had fun testing some new games out (check out our 'tree man' in one of the pics).
Then we headed towards Edinburgh where we saw some more cute cacstles and for Charlotte to fly back to Denmark where we stayed at my friend Jonathans house. We also went to climb a mountain, great views over Edingburgh and enjoyed a sunset there, absolutely fantastic.
Lastly I started heading down towards Newcastle to sail out and about for work.
