Photo op with Robin Hood!

Barely had I landed and briefly set my feet upon the home street before I had my good friend Charlotte fly over from Denmark going to the same conference in Scotland as me. So we set out on the journey from the lower part of England to the middle of the highlands in Scotland which should normally be a 10 hour drive if going straight. Buuut... since I was jetlagged (and since Charlotte is not allowed to drive the car on my insurance) there was no way that was going to happen and it fit nicely to make a girly road trip out of it!

So, we set of in my car and first city we decided to stop in was Nottingham. Not knowing much except that this could have something to do with that bloke in panty hose, a funny green hat with a feather in it and pretty good at shooting a bow.

Hotel/mini castle we stayed at
... what's his name hmmm right, Robin Hood of course! The was actually a castle of Nottingham as well, you know the famous one with the sherif in it, but we sadly got there when it was just closing the gates for visitors so I only got a photo from a distance. Then as it got dark around 7pm we were trying to find a B&B to stay at but every single place we went to was fully booked. It turns out there was a marathon in the area, so we kept moving on to try our luck. As the watched pointed to 10pm we still hadn't found anywhere and was in the middle of nowhere in the Northern England... then we saw a sign though for a hotel, and at this point we were willing to pay quite a lot more than when we started to find a bed. The hotel was quite pricey but it was indeed nice, actually it was a small castle almost and with 4 stars and one helluva breakfast, yum yum.
Us on Hadrians Wall running across the top of England from coast to coast

Next day offered Hadrians wall, I was thinking of something like the great wall of China maybe just a bit smaller.... I don't know, what do you think (look at the photos)? After arriving at our destination it was all conference but also a look around. We went to the Cairngorms National Park, the mountain there and some walks around the area where we had fun testing some new games out (check out our 'tree man' in one of the pics).

Then we headed towards Edinburgh where we saw some more cute cacstles and for Charlotte to fly back to Denmark where we stayed at my friend Jonathans house. We also went to climb a mountain, great views over Edingburgh and enjoyed a sunset there, absolutely fantastic.

Lastly I started heading down towards Newcastle to sail out and about for work.
