Arrived in Rijeka airport to dazzling sunshine and warmth. Once I got on the bus to Rijeka city, who should be the first nationality to meet me? Indeed, an aussie called Dan. There was an english couple too and we all had a walk through Rijeka before going our own ways.
Went to Opatija, a resort town just down the road that used to be visited by the Grand Tourers. Very nice town with a seaside promenade that goes on for 12km in total. Went for a dip in the clear waters of the Adriatic, then went for a walk around town.
Had a marvellous caipirinha at Tantra and then moved on to Bevanda for a seafood dinner. Unfortunately a headache was building and ibuprofen was all the way back in Rijeka in a luggage locker. Doh!
I got a night train from Rijeka to Zagreb. The carriage attendant was saying make sure you keep the door locked because thieves operate on these trains. He came back a few minutes with a huge chain for me to assure my security. Didn't help me sleep though.
At 6.30am I boarded a bus to Sarajevo. Only 8 hours of travelling ahead of me!
